The Abjonian Suite by Abjo (San Diego, CA)
I found out about the work of Abjo from a Dilla tribute album on bandcamp (an incredible release where I’ve been discovering a ton of new producers) and the first search brought me to a 33:55 minute hip hop instrumental piece titled The Abjonian Suite. Abjo hails from San Diego but his flavor is about as East Coast as it gets, clearly coming up on legends like Dilla and Premier but modern in a Bonobo sort of way. The listen is relaxing yet inspiring and is a good jam for morning, afternoon, or at 4am over a joint with some friends. Great sonic landscapes with use of synths, strings, a great ear for drum sounds and ambient vocal samples among other instrumentation. @thinknotsleep
